Why Choose Porchlight

Deep expertise in driving AI adoption at scale in complex organizations

Boutique firm combining AI governance, training, workforce enablement, executive communication, and change management.

We keep the team senior and small on purpose — no account layers between you and the people actually doing the governance and communications work.

Expertise built through AI standup and adoption across the U.S. Department of the Air Force, Department of State, and Department of Treasury.

We've built and run governance models, enterprise training, and strategic communications under real compliance pressure at the Department of the Air Force, State, and Treasury — then adapted what worked into a practice any complex organization can use.

Deep grounding in air, space, and drone operations.

That depth comes from firsthand experience with the Department of the Air and Space Forces, so we understand the operational and safety stakes behind the technology, not just the technology itself.

Vendor-neutral by design, so recommendations serve your mission, not a platform contract.

We don't resell platforms or take referral fees. Every recommendation is built around what actually solves your problem, not what's easiest for us to sell.

Purpose-built for high-trust, high-clearance environments.

We know how to navigate classified and compliance-heavy environments without slowing down adoption, pairing rigorous technical practice with the training and change management that drive real, lasting use.

The Founders

Two careers built inside the rooms where AI policy gets made

Dr. Joe Chapa

Co-Founder & Principal Consultant

An Oxford-educated philosopher, former combat pilot, and published author of two books, Joe takes AI ethics out of abstract academic theory and puts it to work in the real world. As the Department of the Air Force's first-ever Chief Responsible AI Ethics Officer and the former Director of Innovation at the Air Force's Strategic Studies Group, he has spent years helping senior leaders navigate the fast-moving intersection of emerging technology, policy, and practical human decision-making. He authored the book on ethics in the U.S. drone program. Joe specializes in ethical, interoperable AI across mission-critical spaces. His latest book, AI For The Rest of Us, is the book every leader should read to peek under the hood and understand how modern AI works and what it means for our society.

Callie King

Co-Founder & Principal Consultant

With two decades in strategic communications and project management, Callie specializes in translating dense, complex AI policies into plain, actionable strategy and building strong coalitions for moving innovation out of pilots into production. Before co-founding Porchlight Consulting, she led AI strategy, communications, training, and change management across major federal agencies, including the Department of State, Department of the Treasury, and the Department of the Air Force as the first Acting Director of AI. Callie focuses on helping organizations adopt cutting-edge technology efficiently, while mitigating risk and promoting safety for humans.
